Two practical ways to fix problems with DVD drives that can't read

Nowadays, DVD drives are widely used in our laptops and PCs. We use the CD/DVD drives to view awesome DVD movies, install a large application or computer system and burn/rip a DVD for entertainment, etc. To some degree, CD/DVD drives greatly improve our entertainment life and has became the indispensable tool for DVD enjoyment. However, sometimes for some unknown reason, they will also go on a strike like when we insert a DVD Disc, the drive can not read it normally and is shown as disabled at the same time.

Method One:

1: Right-click “My Computer” and select the “Attribute” from the pop-up menu.

2: After open the Attribute dialog box; choose “Hardware” Tab and select device manager and Hit to open it.

3: Uninstall “DVD/CD-ROM” and “IDE ATA/ATAPI”. Then your computer will require you to restart the computer. Restart it. Done!

4: After your restart your computer, if it still not works, try the following second method to solve the problem.

Method Two:

1: Click “Start” and select “Run”. Type "regedit" into the dialog box and hit “Yes” to open the registry editor.

2: Unfold the following branch and click to delete “UpperFilters” or “LowerFilters” On the right side of the window.

Note: the two methods above are for software issue. If you have try the methods above and your drive still can not read the DVD, it may be a hardware problem such as drive aging, cable damage and the drive laser damage, etc. Thus if you are sure it is a hardware problem, go to find a professional maintenance personnel for help!
