USB Paper Shredder

Identity theft has become big news over the past year or so. The risk of someone rummaging through your waste bins, extracting personal information and using it to set up bank accounts, loans and obtain passports in your name has become almost frighteningly real. The one thing you can do that really makes things so much harder for these low-lifes is to shred your sensitive documents. Make anything with your name, address and account details on unreadable and you instantly make yourself more secure. That means letters, envelopes, bank statements, receipts, business cards and sticky-notes. The USB Mini Shredder is perfect, it plugs in to any standard PC, Mac or Laptop USB port so needs no batteries or mains adaptor (athough for the ultimate in portability, you can insert 4 inexpensive AA cells). It is small enough to sit on your desk, office shelf, or for road-warriors to carry around in the car and will shred your sensitive paperwork into fine 3.5mm-wide strips. It may only be A6 in size (the equivalent of A4 folded twice) but the Mini-Shredder is a useful little thing, it even has a built in letter opener too!

Features:

  • Size: 16 x 12 x 14cm ( 6.2 x 4.7 x 5.5 in approx)
  • Shredding width 12.3cm (4.8in)
  • USB powered or takes 4 x AA batteries
  • Sturdy construction – weighs 661 grammes (1.5 lbs)
  • 1.1m USB cable supplied
  • On/off/reverse switch to clear any jams
  • 1.6 litre container

  1. Nice man but how about the price? And how effective it is? We buy USB to keep our data “mobile”, but this USB Paper Shredder is a “large” thing so I don’t know if it’s effective enough or not. There are plenty of creative high-tech things nowadays but price and quality are the most important things.
