I am the antithesis of a morning person. In fact, if I am woken up just a second before my alarm sounds off, you can expect the next few hours to be a drag. With that being said, my precious time in a work induced coma is almost as important to me as food and oxygen. Yes it ranks that highly on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs!

In a search to maximize my sleep and make the most of my morning, I began scouring app stores to dig up mobile applications that can get me through the day and into my pajamas as quickly as possible. For the sake of everyone under your roof, I recommend installing the following apps to any and every morning grouch.

Alarm Clock Xtreme

Nowadays, smartphones have tons of different options for morning alarm sounds, but that just isn’t enough. In my opinion, the most obnoxious noise in the world is not nails on a chalkboard; it happens to be the morning alarm. The developers behind Alarm Clock Xtreme recognized the irreparable damage that startling alarms can do to grumpy morning people and created an advanced alarm clock that gently brings the heaviest sleepers to consciousness in a natural way. This application is especially ideal for the perpetual snoozer because it has settings that can be adjusted to trigger math problems that will keep users from accidentally turning off their alarm.

Sunrise

This application is the perfect tool to help all of the busy bees in the world get their chaotic day started off on the right foot. Sunrise sends a daily email that integrates Google Calendar, Facebook, Eventbrite, LinkedIn and many more into a single reminder that includes all of your day’s events as well as other valuable information. In addition to helping you tackle your day in a methodic manner, Sunrise also provides thumbnails, job details, and birthday reminders to keep you in the loop.

Bring the Pain with Sworkit!

There are few things that can drag me out of a funk, but exercising is one of them. A little morning workout is the best way to get your blood pumping and positive endorphins flowing while keeping off unwelcomed weight. The Sworkit application offers various circuit training routines that range anywhere from five to 60 minutes. Whether you are at home or on the road, this app is a great way to pick up circuit training that focuses on cardio, yoga and strength training. While I am well aware that a 7am workout is the last thing on your mind, consider giving Sworkit a shot if you are even remotely interested in a fun, easy, do-it-at-home approach to staying fit.

Alarm Clock Xtreme, Sunrise, and Sworkit are three great apps that you can use to attempt to become a morning person. This is not a fool proof plan, but for the sake of everyone that has to come in close contact with you during the early hours of the day, I urge all anti-a.m. people to give these apps a shot.
